Research Experience

May 2003 - August 2003, Biological Technician, National Park Service, Cape Cod National Seashore - Collected data for seashore's 10-year upland vegetation monitoring surveys. Identified herbs, shrubs, and trees. Estimated species plot cover. Counted tree seedlings. Estimated tree heights. Tagged, measured DBH of, and assigned general conditions to trees.  Installed decomposition dowels. Took digital canopy photographs of sites with fisheye lens. Recorded GPS points of, and later projected onto aerial photographs using Arc View, points within each site. Entered data into the seashore's internal database using Microsoft Access.

July 2003, Fire Technician, National Park Service, Cape Cod National Seashore - Participated in prescribed burning of forest plots within the Park boundaries. Collected plant species whose fire responses were specifically being studied. Set fire to, monitored the burning of, and soaked delineated plots of forest.
