The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is the most widely accepted credit-by-examination program in the United States, helping students of all ages earn college degrees faster by obtaining college credit for what they already know. By receiving a passing score, you can earn from 3 to 12 college credits toward your college degree for each CLEP Test you take, depending on the exam subject. ►Contact the Institution you are obtaining your degree from to inquire if they accept CLEP credits. UMF does not. ► CLEP Tests are administered throughout the year by the University of Maine at Farmington's, Center for Human Development, Testing Services. To schedule a test call (207) 778-7666. If you are unable to take a CLEP test on one of the scheduled dates, other arrangements may be made by contacting Testing Services, at (207)-778-7666. ● Each CLEP test costs $85, which comprises two fees: a $20 non-refundable service fee and a $65 test fee. The $20 portion of the total fee must be paid in advance when registering for the test, credit cards accepted. The $65 portion is paid on the day of the test. CLEP Tests are 90-minute, multiple-choice exams administered on computers at the UMF's, Center for Human Development, Testing Services. To register for a CLEP Test session call (207) 778-7666. ● Earning college credit through CLEP testing saves money; consider the advantages of paying $85 for three credits through one CLEP Exam or more than $400 for a three-credit course. ● Test-prep materials for CLEP Tests are available at the UMF's, Center for Human Development as well as most high schools and other colleges. ● See "Description of CLEP Tests" in the drop-down menu above to learn more about the content covered in
