Map Your Major

First complete the Career Key (password = 44W5) online career interest inventory to identify a three-letter career code that reflects your career interests. At the end of the profile, the Career Key will provide you with numerical scores in each of the following categories: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional. To find your three-letter career code, write down your top-three categories in descending order. Thus, a person who scored Realistic (5), Investigative (9), Artistic (5), Social (10), Enterprising (7), and Conventional (1) has a three-letter career code of SIE or Social-Investigative-Enterprising.

►Once you've identified your three-letter code, you may click on Map Your Major page to locate degree programs at UMF associated with your interests.  Be as inclusive as possible.  Find all majors that contain any two letters of the three-letter career code that describe your interests.  This may be an indication of interest in a career related to the major.  For example, the major code for psychology is SIE and the career code for clinical psychologist is ISA.

►On the Map Your Major link page there are two ways to explore career opportunities.  Click on the three-letter Holland Code or choose the O’Net On-line website.  Both will give you a cluster of occupations related to each field of study.  Use this information to research possible jobs related to a major.
