CHD Counseling Services

Welcome to UMF's Center for Human Development (CHD) Counseling Services home page. Our mission is to provide a supportive, confidential setting for students to address problems affecting their academic, social, employment or personal goals. UMF has two full-time licensed clinical professional counselors, Beth Jennings and Melanie Pullo. Issues commonly addressed in individual counseling sessions include: concerns about relationships, happiness, life decisions, motivation, personal growth, adjustment to college life, self-esteem, academic challenges, time management, study skills, anxiety,  depression, loss, eating disorders, alcohol/drug abuse, sexuality issues, trauma/abuse, identity and life style choices.

Location and Hours
Individual counseling services are available at the CHD, Franklin Academic Success Center, 252 Main Street, Farmington. The CHD is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

How to Make an Appointment, the Counseling Fee
Call 207-778-7034 or stop by the CHD during open hours to schedule an appointment. The first counseling appointment for UMF students is free. Students who wish to continue seeing clinical counselors at CHD after the first appointment pay a one-time, non-refundable fee of $25 that covers counseling and career services appointments at no additional charge until graduation.

Confidentiality
The content of discussions in counseling appointments is confidential. The exception to this rule is when students are at risk to themselves or others.
