Dear Ms. Day,

My name is Susan Hartwick, and I am a senior at the University of Maine at Farmington, majoring in Community Health Education with a minor in Rehabilitation Services. My father, who lives in Gorham, N.H., discovered the article titled ‘Judy Day is new area health education specialist for tobacco-use prevention’ in the October 13 release of The Gorham Courier. I enjoyed reading about the health education programming you are implementing with the Northern Grafton County Coalition.

I am writing to inquire about the possibility of serving an internship relating to tobacco use prevention for the fall of 2005, specifically September through December. As you can see from the attached resume, I have completed a school-based health practicum in which I taught lessons on smoking cessation. I have also taken HEA 211, Substance Abuse Prevention, and REH 320, Addiction Rehabilitation to learn both prevention and therapeutic models for substance abuse. Currently, I am gaining grant-writing experience on a volunteer project for Western Maine Community Action, a social service agency in Wilton, Maine.
